With the latest version, Halo Downmix now enables multichannel to multichannel downmixing, bringing new levels of versatility and time savings in surround audio production.

This product includes the 9.1 extension.

Available in Avid AAX, VST and AU formats, Halo Downmix automates the creation of a stereo-to-surround, upmix-compatible upmix with unique central channel management and spatial density control.

The latest version of the plugin adds a new set of algorithms for downmixing multichannel audio (LCR, Quad (4.0), 5.0, 5.1, 7.0 and 7.1) to 5.1, 7.1 or 9.1 (7.1.2). This expanded multichannel support means that Halo Upmix users have an even wider range of upmixing options, while the upgrade also includes other changes designed to improve user controls and further refine the interface customization process.

From naturally extracted and expansive soundscapes to full cinematic big-stage enhancements, Halo Downmix delivers all the control you need to tune your surround mix to perfection with intuitive ease. With unique center channel management, including switchable dialogue extraction, Halo is perfect for all types of production, from archiving and TV to the full 7.1 Feature Film experience.

Powerful real-time analysis of the original stereo or multichannel material identifies and obtains local cues to naturally expand the panorama – without the introduction of artificial reverb, chorus or delay in the upmix – leaving intact the inherent character of the original source stays.

Because Halo generates a coherent spatial sound, you are assured of a high-quality downmix. The ‘exact’ mode function ensures the ultimate downmix performance, where, as with TV program recomposition, for example, it is essential to maintain the relationship between the original, remixed and downmixed versions.

For those situations that require immersive cinematic dynamics, full control over all relative surround balances is possible, allowing the creation of any surround-up mix for a perfect blend across the entire 7.1 panorama.

Centrechannel extraction and control is provided in a separate ‘advanced’ panel for use in complex mixes where access to the original stems is not available, and provides unparalleled control – including neural network-based dialogue extraction.

Halo also includes a powerful spatial analysis overview, which intuitively shows the energy distribution of the blended panorama. Color can additionally be used to indicate the speaker source for audio in any position, clearly identifying the cases including phantom vs hard center domination etc.
